At FruitShare, we’ve begun shipping some early-season varieties of apples, such as the Zestar, along with some Bartlett pears. You may have also noticed plenty of apples and pears at the grocery store. Don’t be fooled! The apples and pears at the supermarket are from New Zealand, Chile and Argentina and are more than 6 months old. That’s right – they’ve been in storage for 6 months, losing flavor and nutrients all the time.
FruitShare is not like that. We always follow the seasons to provide you with the freshest in-season organic fruit in the country. Think that’s a bold statement? It is. But we stand behind it. We work directly with organic farmers to ensure that the fruit goes straight from the fields to your box, as quickly as possible. That way, the fruit retains more nutrients and tastes much better. It’s also better for the environment, since they don’t sit in cold storage for months on end (not to mention the chemicals kept out of the environment because of organic growing methods).
So when you open up your FruitShare box, you can bite into those apples and pears knowing that they came right from the orchard, just as fast as we could get them to you. Enjoy.
