Are cherries as healthy as blueberries?

The answer: just about. Blueberries are often referred to as a “superfood” – meaning they are very high in antioxidants. In the discussion about superfoods, cherries tend to be overlooked, but why is that? Evidence shows that cherries are superfoods in their own right. In fact, they contain the same antioxidant as blood oranges (and blueberries, for that matter), called anthocyanin. The benefits from this antioxidant include a diminished risks of heart disease, some forms of cancer, and build-up of LDL cholesterol.
